My name is Kallyna Hansen. I am married with two sons (34 years old and 2 years old). This is my seventh year of teaching. I taught 6th grade language arts and social studies, two years of 6th grade self contained, a year of 6th and 7th grade language arts and social studies, a year as a K-4 math RTI specialist, and this is my second year teaching 3rd grade. Before I got my own classroom, I student taught in Mrs. Hyatt's kindergarten classroom, was an aide in a kindergarten and first grade special needs classroom in Mundelein, taught Mrs. Poepping's 7th grade language arts classes as a long term substitute teacher, and substitute taught throughout the district. I absolutely love being a teacher and role model to my students! I couldn't imagine doing anything else with my life! I grew up in Beach Park and Winthrop Harbor. I graduated from Zion Benton in 2007, and went on to graduate with a B.S. degree in elementary education from Southern Illinois University. I am very passionate about spending quality time with my family. I live in Winthrop Harbor, and am proud that my own children will eventually attend school in such a great district. I love that it is a small community and everyone seems so close. I feel that it makes it easier to work together for the good of our children.
